Here is a little more detailed description of our
facilities:
 |
Area
- 30 acres of loblolly pine, oak, cypress, yaupon,
birch, and mayhaw trees just to name a few and the majestic Village
Creek winding around three sides of the property. The Retreat is surrounded
by the Big Thicket where there are over 200 native species of birds
such as rain loving wood ducks, egrets, Pilated woodpeckers, herons
and some rare bats. Wildlife include the nine banded armadillo,
white-tailed deer,
raccoons, opossums, rabbits, and an abundance of
squirrels. Plus we
have 4 trough feeders set
around the grounds that we keep loaded with corn, sweet-feed, and
other delights for the deer & wildlife.
 |
Nature Trail - We have a
walking nature trail that winds through the woods where many if the
trees and plants are labeled and also some 'fun' stuff, such as an outdoor
whiskey still, a grave yard, and a few people perches (stools) along
the way. You never know what you will find as it is always changing! |
 |
Village Creek - The Village
Creek is right at your doorstep! Plus, a cement boat ramp for
launching small craft or a handy place for canoe pull-outs.
|
|
 |

3200 sq. ft. main cabin has sleeping accommodations
for 20 adults (8 double beds, 2 queen-size sleeper sofas), centrally heated and
air-conditioned, with 3 large bathrooms and men & women's showers &
toilets, complete kitchen facilities capable of handling large groups
including an electric range, 2 refrigerators, commercial ice machine,
and assorted kitchenware. It also features a 12 X 40 dining room, 24 X
20 living room with wood burning fireplace, and a 20 X 30 meeting /

bars, and plenty of room for the little ones to safely romp and play. |
 |
Outdoor Covered Patio Area - A
30' x 60' covered cement patio complete with picnic tables and
electrical outlets. Great for those really bright sunny days or when
there just 'might' be a hint of rain that could spoil the fun. |
 |
Bar-B-Que / Fish Cleaning House
-
This is a sure 'nuff bar-b-que house! This 20' x 40' building houses a
huge four bay in ground
brick pit that can handle 2 sides of beef at one time! The screened in
house is equipped with sinks, plenty of counter space, electrical
outlets, inside lighting, and a sliding window that can be used for
serving. Note: This is a LARGE scale Bar-B-Que pit, not for cooking 30
hamburgers or a couple of packs of hot-dogs but suited for a side or
two of beef. |
 |
Boat Ramp - A cement
boat ramp large enough to launch any canoe, aluminum john boat, and
small bass boats. The ramp extends into the creek for easy launching
and tailoring. |
 |
Sandy Swimming Area
- During lower water levels we have very nice sandbars and easy access
to the creek. During higher water levels caution is advised, then
canoeing is even better! Creek water level can be checked on our
homepage. The water level indication is real time by the USGS
and can be graphed for up to a 31 day period. |
